
Road to BAL: Islanders Kriol complete Thunder's Elite 16 list

Cape-Verdean club Kriol Star have been handed a wild card, completing the eight teams set to compete at the Road to BAL (Basketball Africa League) East Division Elite 16.
Kriol get a second chance after finishing 0-2 in the Group Phase played in Libya in October.
The eight-team qualifier tournament for the BAL 2025 season will take place at Kasarani Indoor Arena from Thursday, 28 November to Tuesday, 3 December. 30 November 30 will be a rest day.
Participating teams in the East Division Elite 16 are led by home team Nairobi City Thunder, Urunani Basket Club (Burundi), City Oilers (Uganda), Bravehearts (Malawi), Matero Magic (Zambia), MMB (South Africa), Fox Basketball (South Sudan), Kriol Star (Cape Verde).
The eight participating teams will be divided into two groups of four team each and will compete in a round-robin system.

Thunder are looking to become the first Kenyan side to qualify for the premier African men's club competition. Both Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and Ulinzi Warriors have failed at this stage of the competition in previous editions.
